Halloween Party Decor - Table Centerpiece

Off on a Rollicking Ride

Halloween Party DecorThis Thanksgiving/Hallowe'en vignette was inspired by the vegetable figures depicted in postcards and candy containers from the early 20th century.

It can be used as a table center-piece with small gifts or candy put inside the Jack-O-Lantern. At some point during the dinner party the gifts are distributed to your guests. This was common practice at parties from the 1900's to the 1940's. Whatever the theme was used for the party, there would always be a Jack Horner Pie as a table decoration.Halloween Party Decor

This side view shows the last figure, a cucumber man helping to push the cart. Of all of the figures he is my favorite.

The cart was built from a hand split cedar roof shake. It has pewter wheels. The Jack-O-Lantern can be removed from the cart.

Halloween Party DecorThe next view shows the watermelon man's face, the carrot guy, and the beet girl, to me the beet has a feminine quality. As the figures are created, they emerge and their own character and personality develops. They really do come to life!
